About Ms. Wang
Ms. Wang spent over 16 years teaching science in some of Houston's most demanding academic environments — from Kinkaid and St. Francis Episcopal to Lanier Middle School, Pin Oak, and the Mandarin Immersion Magnet School. She knows these schools from the inside: their expectations, their culture, and exactly what it takes for students to thrive in them.
Her path to teaching wasn't a straight line. As a pre-med student at Trinity University, a single economics professor changed everything — not by lecturing, but by making her genuinely love the subject. That professor had also built a program called Economics in the Schools, where small teams of students designed and taught real lessons in San Antonio public school classrooms. It was Ms. Wang's first time in front of a classroom, and she discovered immediately that teaching was her calling. She never would have found it otherwise.
That experience shaped everything about how she works with students today — the belief that the right educator at the right moment can redirect a student's entire trajectory, and that genuine curiosity, not just content delivery, is what makes learning stick.
Even during her classroom years, former students kept coming back — asking her to continue working with them after they'd moved on to the next grade or school. That pattern of families seeking her out privately continued throughout her teaching career. When she eventually left the classroom and began homeschooling her own child, what had always been an organic extension of her teaching naturally evolved into Wang Science Lab.
What sets her apart isn't just her credentials — it's her perspective. Most tutors know their subject. Few know the specific schools, teachers, and academic cultures that shape a Houston student's experience. Ms. Wang brings both.
She works with a select group of students at a time, which means every family gets her full attention and a program built around their child's unique goals, school, and learning style.
Background & Credentials
Ms. Wang holds a B.A. in Economics with a Minor in Biomathematics and a Masters in Teaching, Secondary Science from Trinity University. She is a Texas Certified Science Educator for Grades 4–8 and a Certified Life Science Educator for Grades 9–12.
Her 16 years in Houston classrooms span both ends of the city's academic spectrum — eight years in Houston area public schools, including Cy-Lakes High School, Lanier Middle School, Pin Oak Middle School, and the Mandarin Immersion Magnet School, followed by eight years at leading independent schools. She spent seven of those years at The Kinkaid School before finishing her classroom career at St. Francis Episcopal.
